I would recommend copyrighting your lyrics if you really care about them and don't want people to steal them.
It's a separate copyright if you have any melodies put to your lyrics. They are two separate products to copyright. Your Lyrics and Your Melodies.
Your Lyrics are your words to your song and your Melody is your musical composition of your song.
It's Very Simple and Very Inexpensive and Worth It when someone takes your Lyrics and/or Melodies and you're in court. Your COPYRIGHT Proves they're YOURS and that YOU WROTE THEM.

A manager can be called a talent manager, artist manager, or band manager. They all do the same things but with different fields of talent. They all MANAGE people. They can be a single person or a company and have all different kinds of backgrounds, including CRIMINAL. Saying you're a manager and taking your money requires NO paper to be filled out or education. Watch out for ANYBODY in the Music Business because it's one of the easiest ways to screw somebody over. The Artists looking for HELP usually aren't educated in the law and usually are Young, Desperate kids who want money and stardom and are willing to take ANY risks, fast and furiously. A trusted manager is one with a Great background check and somebody you TRUST. It can even be a family member or yourself. All you have to do is be Great at managing your business affairs and being able to see around the corner of what decisions have to be made to benefit yourself as an Artist.
Is hiring a MANAGER a NECESSITY ??? NO.
You can be your OWN MANAGER.
