We're sending this again because we forgot to post the link along with our question to Dr. Phil and Robin …
Dear Dr. Phil and Robin,
My daughter has decided that we'd ask you a question every Sunday, hoping that you and Robin would do a show bringing Attention to the exploitation of children/young people in the music business. I've stepped in to help write the questions after reading her blog and several things other kids are saying. I'm hoping y'all will find this important enough to put on your show.
My question is when you're sitting at your dinner table and your little granddaughter sings lyrics that she's heard on the radio, how do you justify that artists like Lorde, J-Lo, Nicki Minaj, Iggy Izeala, the top teen favorites have no competition? Lyrics like these
"gotta stay high to keep from missing you"
"love me love me love me harder harder harder"
"you got me sipping on something, I can't compare to nothing
"The drink you spilt all over me "Lover's Spit" left on repeat"
"I'mma make you beg, I'mma make you beg for it"
"I can still hear you making that sound Taking me down, rolling on the ground"
"Big, big booty What you got a big booty"
"She got a body like an hourglass But I can give it to you all the time"
"Finger on the pump make the sixth straight jump from SoCal"
"You're the fear, I don't care Cause I've never been so high Touch me like you do"
"It was us against the world and now we just f*cking"
"You should want a bad b*tch like this (ha) Let's get drunk on the mini bar"
"Big dope dealer money, he was getting some coins Come through and f*ck 'em in my automobile Oh my gosh, look at her butt D*ck bigger than a tower P*ssy put his @ss to sleep Yeah, he love this fat @ss"
"I get filthy when that liquor get into me Drunk in love, I want you"
"Cat walk, slick talk, flirting with them big dogs"
"Yo, shout out to all you kids, buying bottle service, with your rent money, Respect"
Please tell me what I'm supposed to tell my daughter when we sit together everyday at 5:00 and watch your shows this week, mean girls, crazy mom living in the woods, mom and dad on drugs and alcohol, another couple living in the woods, they all were offered treatment. That was a wonderful thing but she wants to know why y'all haven't responded when she asks your show to help her bring awareness to such an important issue as exploitation in the music business. These nasty lyrics are stealing the airwaves! We believe strongly in freedom of speech, but no one is challenging these lyrics. The nastier these artists get, the more meaningful music needs to compete with them. Please call on your soccer moms. Please do a show and ask people to check out Meaningful Music Movement. These kids are organizing. They have power and they are Changing the World !!! Please Help Them !!! Your granddaughter deserves better !!!
These messages are being posted on the Meaningful Music Movement website. We are communicating with 1 nonprofit a day, reaching out to other people that are advocating against violence and exploitation. Please Help Us ! We aren't against Freedom of Speech, we just want to compete and show people that Meaningful Music is a better choice and we're creating and making it available to people all over the world. These young people want to earn it. They are not planning on shutting down the nasty lyrics. They are offering something better, one word at a time.
