There have been many disasters in the world that have caused deaths, chaos, mayhem, and on the flip side, disasters can also bring people closer together. They show us how fragile our little world of Facebook, and video games, and work, and holding grudges, and vacations, and drives, really is. When Mother Nature comes for a wakeup call, she means it.
We pollute, and trash, and destroy the only planet we’ve got and the elders that are doing it will be dead when the serious consequences of their actions come and we’ll be here, saying, “Wow. They must have really not given a crap about us.” WE, the YOUTH, will be the ones facing the decisions you adults made. WE will be the ones searching for clean water, or trading clean water with coal for more jobs and cheaper expenses, like residents of West Virginia are doing now. They don’t care that their sons and daughters are getting digestive issues, mental disorders, and cancer. They’re willing to trade their lives for money.
Americans think that raping the mountains and sea and water and trees is worth having things cheaper when in the future, money will either be so irrelevant because people will pride clean, real resources more that dough, or it will be of such great value and there will be the 10 rich people in the world with 99.9% of America’s money and those 10 rich people will be the ones making the decisions to cut down a quarter of that continent so we’ll have more pencils and tables and, can’t forget the bulletin boards. Let’s scrape the bottom of the only ocean we’ve got for some minerals that the population will burn in 4 days. I’m sure the ocean life will recover after we kill them. They’ll figure it out. And please America, waste more food and supplies. Throw away MORE food so it doesn’t spoil and rot in your fridges. It’s WAY too hard to plan your grocery list better.
We’ll be absolutely fine! Somehow, the world will recover from all the mountain tops we demolished, surely the seas will find a way to revive themselves, of course the sky can blow in a clean breeze and clean itself, and damn right the human race will sit back and watch.
ONE WORD CAN CHANGE THE WORLD.
I keep saying that to people and Rhianna’s new song is American Oxygen. She had the opportunity to open the youths’ eyes and start a revolution and bring to people’s attention the destruction we’re doing and what the world will look like in 9 years if we don’t change. But she says this…
“Breathe out
breathe in
American oxygen
Every breath I breathe
Chasin' this American Dream”
Then continues to chant, “this is the new America, we are the new America”. If this gets piped in kids’ ears all day long, what are we supposed to think? The majority of kids don’t spend their Saturday night catching up on ISIL and the volcano in Kathmandu. They don’t have an outlet to hear that kind of stuff in an interesting way. Do we learn and study current world news in school? Do we learn about current events that are happening now? NO! We must learn the past to prevent the future! Duh! We must learn the exact date that someone fought a war or how to find the perimeter of a triangle with 2 sides! If anyone ever threatens to behead me unless I can find the area of a cylinder, I’ll be the first to thank all the education I’ve learned in school. And the school systems comeback is,
System: “Well, we exercise young people’s brains so they’ll be fully developed so they can face the real world.”
Student: “Ok, so if I want to open up my first bank account, how do I do that?”
System: “Sorry, it doesn’t look like that’s in our curriculum.”
Student: “Ok, how do I buy a house? How do I be happy in life and feel fulfilled?”
System: “You don’t feel fulfilled? That’s not our job to teach kids how to be happy and feel fulfilled. Maybe you should try a therapist.”
It’s just very hard to watch people all over America frack, pollute, burn, trash, and rape the only planet we’ll ever get. I almost cried the other day because of the things my mom told me they’re doing to our planet. I’m the youth of America. I would rather have to work harder for more money to pay for higher gas and electricity than not have clean water to drink and clean air to breathe. There is supposed to be this blissful American Dream where you come here and have a good job and live in clean quarters and have a house and family. Well, the divorce rate is higher than ever and robots are taking lots of jobs and the air isn’t very clean here. I don’t know if you heard but China has no bees. They hand pollinate every fruit they grow. America has lost 70% of our bees. It will cost too much in labor over here to hand pollute every piece of fruit we grow.
It’s not what it used to be. People know more about the planet now than ever. It almost brings me to tears that this earth, my home, is being ruined by just a handful of the world’s population. Earth can’t defend itself. The human ears can’t hear its voice. We can’t hear its cries of pain and loss. That’s why people like me and you are here. To protect the planet against the handful of people that want its resources to burn. And to protect the rest of the people who don’t deserve a dirty, destroyed planet.
I’m determined to distill our home.
